Objective:

The universal testing machine is required for testing Mica based composite materials to determine mechanical properties when tested to IEC-371-2, IEC-626-2 and IEC394-2 of the various product

Purpose:

The machine shall be suitable to carry out tests as under:

To determine the tensile strength, percentage elongation and to create stress-strain graph when tested to IEC 371-2 (Annexure – A)
To determine stiffness of the Mica based products to IEC 626-2. A Jig shall be provided as an attachment in the supply of universal testing machine. The design of the zinc shall be as per sketch shown in IEC 626 (Annexure B)
To determine the tear resistance of the Mica based composite to IEC 394-2.(See annexure C)

Required Design features of the universal testing machine

Following feature shall be provided:

· Mounted with motor, gear reduction, and arrangement to move cross heads up and down.
Variable speed drive, PLC, MMI and End limiting switch etc. As and when required, easy to select constant rate load (CRL) all constant rate elongation (CRE) shall be provided.
· Maximum gap between process shall be 500 mm
· Facility to plot stress / strain Graph
· Suitable jaw shall be provided to hold the samples and jaw faces shall be smooth and parallel.

Requirement of load cell.

Range 1 to 10
Accuracy - ± 0.5% FSD
Range 10 to 100 N
100 to 1000 N
Accuracy - ± 0.5% FSD

Digital Load Indicator

While using above load cells, the resolution shall be as under.

For 10 N resolution is 0.01 N
For 100 N resolution is 0.1 N
For 1000 N resolution is 1 N
Suitable to operate at 230 volts ± 10%, 50 Hz AC Mains.
